Fire & EMS

The primary objective of the Owosso Fire Department is to provide fire, emergency medical and life safety services to the community of Owosso and protect the environment. The main components in meeting this objective are extinguishing fires, providing emergency medical treatment and transportation, responding to disasters (natural and human caused), specialized rescue response and the provision of general public assistance. Delivering this service with a high level of competency, safety, and customer service is a priority.

Additionally, the Department works to prevent emergency incidents from occurring by providing public education and awareness information to the community as well through diligent fire prevention inspections using Fire and Building Code enforcement of existing occupancies in the City.

The Fire Department is responsible for the supply and maintenance of all fire suppression and emergency-related equipment and administers and coordinates all training needs to meet state and federal mandates. By working with other City departments and staff, the Fire Department is able to economically and efficiently supply, staff and perform the duties and functions necessary to the Fire Department to complete its mission.

Outdoor Siren Warning Signals

In case of a TORNADO WARNING received from the National Weather Bureau through Central Dispatch or from a confirmed sighting an audible tone will be used to alert the community.

On the first Thursday of the month the system will be tested at 6:00 P.M. except for times when the city is under a severe weather watch or warning.
