UPDATE: The work is estimated to be completed on November 17. Shoulder work still needs to be completed and edge lines will follow.
Plans are underway to begin road work on Chestnut Street, from South Street to Stewart Street. Beginning on or about October 4, 2017, the existing asphalt road will be crushed, shaped and rolled through the remainder of that week. The new asphalt surface is scheduled for October 10, 2017. Chestnut Street will be closed to through traffic during this work activity and should be reopened sometime soon after the new asphalt surface work is complete. While local traffic will be maintained, some access will be limited while work passes by resident’s driveways. This work method was chosen over more expensive treatments in effort to provide a good quality road to the public and especially residents along Chestnut Street.
