Westown Corridor Improvement Authority

Westown is a historic and traditional commercial and mixed-use neighborhood on the city’s west side. The area, centered on Main Street, has many multi-story commercial buildings with a number of unique businesses. This area is a high priority area for reinvestment according to the city’s master plan.

The Westown Corridor Improvement Authority was formed as a seven member authority that is a corporate governmental entity, similar in structure and purpose to the Downtown Development Authority.  The district for this authority, illustrated in the map linked to the right under Documents, is focused on the historical area of Westown on M-21.  Currently, this authority does not have an active tax increment financing plan nor any other revenues and as of 2011 the board for the authority no longer remained officially active.  However, the board does engage the public in decorating and cleanup activities throughout the year.
