Asbestos Educational Meeting

PUBLIC EDUCATION MEETING
HOTEL OWOSSO DEMOLITION

PROJECT ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

In response to questions we have received about the management of the asbestos contained within the Hotel Owosso, it has been decided to conduct a public education meeting on the adopted safety standard and how these materials are managed in the process of demolition.  The earliest possible meeting date available for our consultant is:

Tuesday, April 12, 2005
7:00 p.m.
Owosso City Hall – Council Chambers

Mr. Kevin L. Fesler of Trust Thermal Abatement, Inc will be the presenter.  His firm will conduct the daily atmospheric testing to assure that the demolition contractor follows the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) public safety standards for an asbestos containing building.

Because there is the likelihood that the demolition will be underway prior to this meeting, please understand that, contrary to the precautions advised from an individual who experienced a personal loss from asbestos, there is no basis for evacuation or concern for both the workers on the demolition site or persons associated with properties and public spaces in the vicinity.

If an interested person cannot attend this meeting, they may call the City Department of Community Development at 989-725-0544 to view the contractual documents that detail the technical specifications of the work.
